My father left a 2N to me when he passed in 01.
It had sat outside, unused for about 18 months as he went downhill.
When I went to pick it up I checked the oil and water. There was gas in the tank so I turned it on and cleaned the battery cables and posts. Then I got on it and hit the button.
Amazingly, it coughed after about 3 revs and fired up after about 10 - even though the battery had sat that long. The OP came up to about 35 and the ammeter pegged on +.
As I was driving it onto a borrowed trailer one of the hat rims was so rotted that it collapsed and blew calcium all over. I managed to crab it onto the trailer and brought it home.
I cleaned it up, put new rears on it, changed all the fluids, fixed some leaks and used it for about 3 years. Then I sold it as by then I had already started horse trading up to newer Fords.
I must have owned 25 or 30 tractors since then but just have 3 now - all Blue. Well, more like 3 and 2 halves plus parts and some "extras".
Sometimes I'll see an N and get to thinking. Then I remember I have enough projects to last for years already.
