Yes, Ford would have and did use metric shafts and in this case I suspect you will find the thread is Imperial ;-)

What you have there is a standard 6203 ball bearing - cheap and plentiful. The radial ball bearing is a European invention (France???) and the vast majority of them are made in metric sizes. You will find metric ball bearings were used in many places on the N-series.
