Thanks to all of you who sent tips and suggestions. Old dependable, this site! Well, I did manage to jump-start the Ford and get it un-stuck and back to the shed. It seemed to finally be time to tackle the electrical system which I'm now doing. I'm reminded of an old quote: "I don't have time to sharpen the saw, there's too damned much wood to cut!".
The generator has been cleaned up and has new brushes (the old ones are marked with Ford script). She's gonna get a new voltage regulator and amp meter, all tied together with a new wiring harness. In the meantime, she's running so my 8 year old grandson will be able to 'drive' it this weekend (with me behind him) when we get together to shovel out the deer shack and ready for opening day on the 17th. Thanks again!
