Out in the woods yesterday with my 8N cleaning up trails to our deer stands after some serious logging in our sugar bush. The woods is kind of wet after too much October rain, it's badly rutted by the log skidder and I didn't bother to put the chains on. Big mistake! After getting her stuck I killed the engine so there I am, stuck in the woods. That's not all, the battery is dead and she won't turn over. To be honest, I have never seen the ammeter needle move in the 5 or 6 years I've owned it. So, where do I start? If your tractor was stuck in the woods with a dead battery what would you suspect? Battery (pretty new)? Generator? Voltage regulator? I'll appreciate any suggestions. PS: At 82 I'm tryin' not to lose interest...
