You show the side timing gear cover, p/n 9N-6017, the front cover is 9N-6019 for the front mount distributor. Here is Page 62 from the May, 1950 MPC. Note: Part number 9N-6017, used before s/n 263,844, '39-'50. Part number 8N-6017-A, cast iron, used after s/n 263, 844, '50. Part number 9N-6019-B (front mount distributor cover)used before s/n 263,844, '39-'50. Part number 8N-6019-A, cast iron, used after s/n 263,844, '50. Then, p/n 8N-6019-B, aluminum alloy, used after s/n 263,844, '50. This MPC has the major changes listed that were made in early 1950, about April, as the side mount distributor was introduced at s/n 263,844. This would necessitate the new 8N front cover eliminating the mount for a front distributor. Also notice that p/n 9N-6019-A is not listed. As I stated below, my early 9N has both covers of aluminum alloy. My early 8N has both covers of cast iron. We need more early 9N owners chirping in here -Jason? Harold? Paladin?
