Not sure what you mean Al -the bore on the timing gear on the block or the base? The bore on the unit would be machined at the same time when the two mounting holes were drilled -everything must be square to the world. I thought maybe the machining on the unit was off because it was not set in the drilling fixture correctly, but if you look at the two mounting holes compared to the 3" pilot diameter and the center bore, the holes are not shifted. They would be off location on the ears, shifted the same way as the bore. Thus since the part was machined all at the same time, there is no way the bore can be off when unit is mounted to the engine timing gear face via the two 5/16 bolts.
