It's easier to do the bench test using your tractor battery. It will tell you if the battery is at fault. Just remove the starter, hook the cable back up, ground it to the tractor battery and try to start it.

Second choice, use jumper cables from the tractor battery to the starter terminal. Then you will know if it's battery or cable connections.
