Steve- The VR is pretty straightforward. There are three terminals plainly marked: ARM - FLD - BAT with a fourth ground wire feeding the safety neutral starter switch button as shown. A previous post with the LINK to WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR has the OEM 6V/POS GND wiring -scroll all the way to the very bottom -it is the last one shown. Colors are only for clarification on the drawing. Your wiring harness is not going to be exactly as shown. Colors do not conduct the electrons. That is why a continuity test with a VOM is required. Note, I didn't say use an idiot test light. Test lights require the power of the battery. You don't want to check wiring with power applied. It's best to disconnect the battery ground wire before starting so an accidental short won't fry something.
