I have to agree with the majority, remove and replace.
Drain the tank and remove the shutoff valve to prevent dragging it on the radiator. Though not necessary on an 8N, I would remove the steering wheel for better clearence. Remove the radiator cap.
Remove any wires that may be clipped to the hood (lites). Remove the for bolts fastened to the dash. Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the doglegs. Use minimum of two people to lift the hood off working from either side (better to have a third person on the front to lift it slightly first).
A verbal visual for you for a time when I did not have a strong second person: I tied a rope under the tank and around the hood, looped it over a truss cross-tie and then around my wife's backside. She backe up as I lifted. TRUE
Lastly, DO NOT lay your hood on anything upside down. A drained tank ain't necessarily empty. Any residual gas could leak. Ask me how I know.
