Letís start over. As Bruce(VA)answered your question already, the 39-53 MPC and the I&T F-04 Manual have both the distributors shown in exploded views detailing the assembly and identifying each part by number. I have to ask next, because sometimes itís the basics that get overlooked. When you rebuilt your front mount distributor, did you set the timing correctly? At re-installation, did you get the plug wires right for the correct firing order? Have you checked the voltage at the coil side of resistor? Looking at the OEM Ballast Resistor from the front of the tractor, the coil wire is connected to the Left Hand terminal post on the resistor. Voltage should be battery voltage with points open, and half that with points closed. If that checks GOOD, move on to a point issue.
