I have not had the pleasure. If I have the history correct it was Michelin that in the early 70's pioneered a new wheel design in pursuit of lower profile and stiffer sidewall. Their TRX and TRD tires were incompatible with the SAE J rim and bead standards so they opted to make the tires with a metric diameter to prevent mounting them on standard wheels. BMW and SAAB used them up through the late 90's and most car owners ditched them for standard wheels long ago. Wikipedia summed it up nicely - the Betamax of the tire industry.
