I have been delegated to bring a 1952 Ford 8N that has been sitting, untouched for Well over 10 years back to life, in order to use it and the attached Bush hog back to life in order to clear 6 acres, taken over by Florida's natural plant life. I pulled the spark plugs and shot an 80/20 mix of wd40 and tyranny fluid. 24 hours later I used the starter to turn the engine over. Reinstalled the spark plugs, installed a new inline gas filter, put fresh gas in the tank and that puppy flamed right up!! The hydraulics work with no issue. Now for the problem.
The PTO lever refuses to move! Running, not running, running with clutch depressed and in gear, running with clutch depressed and in neutral. NOTHING I have done will allow the PTO lever to move!
Some friends say to hit it with a hammer, others say use a cheater bar but neither seems like something a mechanic would even consider!
To answer the first question. ALL fluid/oil levels were the first things I checked and all ARE good.
