I am buying a 1950 ford 8n in fairly good shape but it sat for the past decade.
The owner drained all the old gasoline out and added a few gallons of fresh gas and pull started it.
It runs nice and strong but appears to not be charging.
The right rear axel seal seems to be leaking oil all over the right wheel and that breaks barely works.
The left wheel doesn't look oily but if you just lightly touch break it grabs and locks up and doesn't release easily. The axel bushings and seals feel worn when I pull each rear tire back and forth so I realize that a brake and rear seal job is likely best thing to concider. However can I spray brake cleaner in the left drum to lessen the grabby problem temporarily???
I would just like to run this machine a while before diving into major repairs and I have never done a brake and rear seal job before?
