Welcome aboard the NTC! First order up is to get copies of the essential manuals for your 8N. Next, be aware these were originally 6-volt/positive ground systems. Many have been switched over to 12 volt jobs. 6-volt systems use a 6V GRP-1 battery, a generator, and a voltage regulator. 12-volts have a 12-volt battery, NEG GRN preferable, with an alternator and NO VOLTAGE REGULATOR. We have a ton of valuable info in our HOW-TO's forum. Go to ELECTRICAL to start with and download a copy of 'WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR'. He has documented every possible CORRECT way to wire these old N's whether 6-volt or 12-volt. This along with Bruce(VA)'s '75 tips For N-Owners' are just as important as the original manuals. Many of us shop at www.just8ns.com and/or www.dennis-carpenter.com so try them for quality parts.
