Glad I sprung for the bigger engine hoist when HF put them on sale. Had to reach way out to get this one and drag it into the shop. It would have been smarter to put tires on the other tractor, so I could roll it outside, and have enough room to get the 3000 in there.
Got it in the shop. PROBLEM
The engine brackets on my stand will not go wide enough to attach this engine. The brackets are large enough for the 5/8" hardware "barely". They just come up about 1/2" short of stretching wide enough to match up with the bolt holes in the block. GRRR. The fully-assembled Flathead V8 was on this stand, and it handled the weight just fine. This 3-cylinder is bigger, but seems to be less overall weight.
Looks like the solution is going to be to weld some additions to the engine stand plate, so I can drill holes further out. I've searched but not found any source for other engine brackets. This stand is supposed to be one-size-fits-all. Guess it's universal for auto and truck engines. The engine plate and hardware dimensions are identical to my other (lighter) engine stand. Anybody else run into this? How did you solve it?
