Think of the switch as a break in the positive wire. There is no + or -. Act like you are running a positive wire directly to the light from the + terminal block that is connected to the + on your battery. Now you just cut that plus wire and insert the switch into the middle of that wire running to the light.
The negative wire to the light is the frame and the housing of the light.
That should do it.
PS sorry if I confused about the positive ground 12 volt. I was thinking of my old 63MGB that was 12volt + ground. Most tractor conversions to 12 volt are usually negative ground, just like your modern day cars... Most - grounds are connected to the frame of the vehicle so you can pick up a - ground anywhere on the frame.
