I currently putting the rear brakes back together on my 1950 8N. Whoever worked on this the last time did not get it together correctly and used hardware that does not seem to fit correctly.
I am collecting the correct bolts to put the rear oil Seal-Bearing Retainer-rear axle housing back together. I have 4 of the 350920 7/16-20 x 3 1/4 and can order 4 more. I don't see an issue with these bolts and nuts.
Where I am having a problem is the bolts for the two threaded holes on the bearing retainer. When I look at the parts catalog I have, it calls for 351068 7/16-20 x 1.88 to be placed thru the seal retainer into the bearing retainer. The parts catalog also calls for 351069 to go thru the rear axle housing into the same threaded holes and I guess thru the bearing retainer then a nut to hold the seal retainer in place.
I don't think both of these bolts can be used in the same hole. I would appreciate some guidance on how everyone else puts this together. I would think a couple of 7/16-20 x 3/4 bolts could be used both front and back and it would work fine or a 7/16-20 x 2 inch bolt could be run thru from the oil seal side and a nut put on it when it sticks out the axle housing hole. I have also seen a threaded stud placed in these holes.
Any help is appreciated.
