The generic solonoid uses 12volts to the small terminal to activate it. The 8n solonoid uses ground to the small terminal to activate it. You need a ground activated solonoid to properly use your 8n starter switch that is mounted on the transmission with the neutral lockout. The 8n switch just connects you to ground through the frame of the teactor.
