Hey everyone - Still having starting problems but it looks like a compression issue. Not too surprising. Anyway I went to do a proper compression test this morning and when I hit the starter button all I got was a faint click. I got out the multi meter and seemed to narrow it down to the solenoid. Oh, '48 8n, front mount, 12 volt conversion. I jumped the solenoid and the starter engaged. Went to NAPA and got a generic 3 pole 12 volt solenoid. Put it all back together and nothing. Not even a click. Jumped the solenoid and the starter engaged. I energized the small pole and the starter engaged. What might I be missing? Does it matter which end of the solenoid goes to the starter? Did I ruin it be wiring it backwards?
