I have taken out my '41 with steel wheels in the snow. Steel wheels,rear, rubber fronts. Less than six inches of snow. Was not plowing snow, just riding. It did ok. It turned to ice within a couple of days so I didn't use it. Have the same problem with my Oliver OC3 on ice, as Gaspump said, like a skating rink. Mind you the steel wheel lugs are worn down to about 1 1/2" not the 3" or 4" it originally came with. Unless you really just want the steel wheels I would opt for chains
