Physical size and maturity has more to do with kids, than age.
When I was 8 or 9, my uncle put me on his NAA to steer in 1st gear while he walked behind, hand picking sweet corn and putting it in the trailer.
All was going good until I got to the end of the row. ....He never told me what to do to stop the tractor, or which way to turn, so he had to run up and push on the clutch. ....Once he showed me that, all was okay.
Be certain your grandson knows all the basics of operation. ...Things which we may assume does not mean a youngster already knows.
Make certain he knows how to react in various scenarios. ...Biggest fear is having him being thrown from the seat, in front of the rear wheels.
