By what I am reading in the MPC's the 9N-726 cast iron cap was used until they changed it to the 2N/8N style. I don't find anything about the aluminum cap molded from the 9N cap so I can only assume it is aftermarket, but I may have missed something. Have not looked at John Smith's site to see if he writes about it or not. Jason Grooms would know so I'll give him a holler too. FORD would not have released an aluminum cap in the war years, that much is certain. I don't see the 2N-726 listed until the January 1946 MPC, but then there were no 43, 44, or 45 MPC's. I'm sure the aluminum works fine and once painted, no one is going to know anyway.
