To demonstrate the power of white vinegar as a paint, dirt, grease, grime, and rust remover, which I've been using for many years on small parts, I inspected two coffee cans marked "VINEGAR TEST 7-16-2017". I had put some rusty tractor parts in an empty coffee can and covered in white vinegar to remove paint, dirt, and rust. I'll post pictures later of those results. The most interesting discovery was the other coffee can in which I had placed a few coins that were so dirty and corroded I couldn't read the dates and such. There was a penny in there with some dimes and nickels. When I went to pick up the penny, it was like Jell-O. WOW! Was it because it was copper and not a ferrous material? Then I realized that maybe it was one of the newer pennies made with a thin layer of plastic sandwiched in between two layers of copper. I don't know for sure so have I begun another 30 day test on some older pennies I know are copper, and no plastic at all. Results will be posted on 9-16-2017 so stay tuned. Here is what happened to that penny from recent testing. Like I said, I suspect it was a newer penny with the plastic center. Since it was pretty corroded and dirty, I could not decipher the date on it before it 'melted' and certainly not after either...
