Woah, wait a minute here. A 6-volt one wire generator? I thought we were talking about the starter. Yes, the early 9N-10000 B & C generators would only have one wire, ditto for the 2N-10000 generator, but the issue was the starter I thought. The generator is part of the charging system and not related to the starting system -two different animals. Don't be guessing. Start with basics battery first, wiring second, key switch. Get the battery verified at your trusty starter/alternator shop guy -he can check usually for free. A specific gravity check is good -a hydrometer most people never use. How do you plan on testing the safety neutral starter switch? Like stated, you can arc start the switch with a screwdriver. Key switch ON, touch terminal on switch and ground to tractor body.
