Sad how clear things become with the advantage of 20:20 hindsight. Look at the length of bracket hanging down from the piece that broke off. I've seen a bunch of these on the 9N 2N tractors, and never really thought about structural integrity. Once broken, it becomes painfully obvious that there should have been a brace/skid plate to support the bottom. Wonder how many rear end housings broke like this before Ford added the extra mounting points under the differential on the 8N?
