ALL N-Series and up thru the Hundred Series Ford Tractors used a 6-volt battery, rated as a Group 1 type; 80 amps capacity; and 39 plates, that's 13 plates per cell. Th e original Ford Tractor Operator's Manuals states to check electrolyte level at least twice monthly and to keep battery fully charged. The specific gravity of the electrolyte indicates the amount of battery charge. For example, from the 600/800 manual chart:

Fully Charged, specific gravity level in a temperate climate = 1.280
Fully Charged, specific gravity level in a tropical climate = 1.225

Levels decrease as battery charge percentage decreases.
