1942 was the year the 2N was introduced, got it by the war board as a new model and thus a slight price increase, by Ferguson; Ford didn't want to hike the price. All 9N and 2N models used the I-Beam radius rods up until 1944,then changed to the oval-tube style. Not ALL 2Ns were war time models either, meaning they all did not come with steel wheels, magneto, and minus a starter. These were only produced for a short duration until Ferguson convinced the President that though the US was involved in WWII now, it was detrimental to the troops and to the homeland economy that we keep the farmers working to produce food and he lifted all wartime restrictions and the rubber and electrics were soon back on 2N models.
