Missed a couple things. The top edge of the box body is a 1"x1" angle iron. It is notched out where the verticle channel that the lift arms attach to passes through it. The other vert. channel butts up under it.
The upper edge of the front is a 1&1/4"x2" angle, wide side verticle. The 3/8" iron reenforcements bend out from where they are attached to pass the edge of the angle, which is not notched.
Shouldn't be too big a trick to duplicate the spring latches with some 3/4" strap. Drill the holes undersize before bending the tabs up, then align them by drilling to final size.
