Nice pickup, Dennis! You got it for a GREAT price. Here's some info that I have that may help you get close to the year of manufacture, but Scott probably already gave you the answer:

The first Ferguson 14" plows were model 14A from 1939-1942. “FERGUSON/SHERMAN Dearborn MI” was displayed on the ID plate on this model. The cast A-frame for the top link was used on this model. The smooth rolling rear wheel was installed on 1939-1941 models. Then they were held on with 4 rivets from 1942 on, along with a different arm with a spring and pins for down pressure. The Ford script in the right beam was on the 1941 to 1942 models.

From 1943-1947, the plows were designated as model 14AO-28 or 14AO-40.

From 1943 to about 1944, the plate displayed “FERGUSON Harry Ferguson Inc Dearborn, MI”.

From about 1945-1947, the plate displayed “FERGUSON Harry Ferguson Inc Detroit, MI”.

1939-1943 plows had the ID plate on the cross frame on the back of the plow, from 1944-1947 it was on the steel upright strap from the frame to the top link connection.

For 1943 the cross shaft u-bolt clamp was changed to a steel plate on the outside of the beam, instead of the u-bolt going through the beam.

The 14-AO-28 frame came out around 1944, earlier ones had a 1 5/8" drawbar then about 1946 they changed to a 1 3/4" drawbar.

If the upright to the top link hole is all cast together on each side, then it is a 1941.

If the vertical part is cast and the angled braces are steel, then it is a 1942.

Hope this helps some........Ed
