Seeping 90W can usually be remedied by replacement of the 90W with CNH pourable high EP lube but if your leak is a fast drip, you will need to replace the seal.

Usually it is the vertical shaft seal that leaks due to seal damage from wraping wire, etc., around the spindle shaft.

Seal replacement is usually straight forward once the blade carrier is removed, which can be a challenge.

I recommend using a FEL, chain hoist, come along, etc., to turn the mower upside down to remove the blade carrier. Depending upon design, copious amounts of good penatrating oil (not WD40), large hammers, heat, and inappropriate curse words may be in order.

Cannot tell from your photo, but if that is a HD 80 HP rather than 40 HP gearbox and you decide to replace it, I have a NOS gearbox of that design that I will sell reasonably.
