Knew the manifold was leaking and was very noticeable a year ago at our local plow day. Just got the tractor out of winter storage a couple weeks ago and took the manifold off pretty easily last Sunday. I guess being in the heavy equipment repair business for 40 years made that a simple task. Knowing the manifold was leaking, I bought the new replacement manifold from Dennis Carpenter for the $174.50 so I could get it put back together quickly. Was very disappointed in the quality of the will-fit manifold from DC. If used, the carburetor would be positioned approximately 3/8" higher than the original manifold. I could also foresee the linkage from the governor and carburetor now misaligned, creating other problems. I have bought a lot of parts over the years from Carpenter and this is the first order I'll be returning back to them. As an old tractor lover of multiple makes, I am very discouraged with the quality of overseas replacement parts. I try very hard to buy the best original parts I can to keep each tractor as much American manufactured as possible!
